about

welcome to a closer to wild jambicast

on the farm and in the studio
crossed paths are opportunities
to improve our stewardship abilities

crossed paths are resources
their use directed by vision and value

being closer to wild
through observation
and interaction
gives strong solid
foundational groundings

lyrics

episode #1:
the economics of being closer to wild

today’s economics is about violence
rallying forces of harm and destruction

the power generated from resources
blazing lines of consumption
producing echos trying to survive
the rising mass of waste
occasionally
eventually
succumbing to exhaustion

this economics is about violence
rallying forces of harm and destruction

tearing mother from child
starving them from each other
slicing through the link of regeneration
eventually returning to
exhaustion

this economics is about violence
rallying forces of harm and destruction

robbery in progress
taking more than is necessary
more than is freely offered
more than what can be used
to be stowed away in a hideout
suffering from under-use

oh for resources to be used
by all those with intention
what interesting creation
would emerge from a situation
an economics void of competition
an economics of achievement
of regeneration

radical imaginations!?

you need the environments you find your way into
and they have a role for you
they can find value with you
they can accommodate you

you can belong there
there is place for you
you engage, see it, join it
and thrive in it

this should not be difficult
and if difficulty is here
it is violence

this economics is about violence
rallying forces of harm and destruction

forcing you into spaces not made for you
fitting in should be easy
not a battle
to find space in common places
not a war
against definitions
not ringing true.

that is the barrier
for things are not seen as they are
reality is skewed
ones are being spoken for
while their voices are silent

this economics is about violence
rallying forces of harm and destruction

its present
never mind its past

demanding sacrifice of our energy
time
body and spirit
for the promise of achieving goals
not of our own making
even if of our own
propagation

and this promise comforts us
and spurs us forward
as we compare our performance
to those around us
drawing broad brushstrokes
of assumption
across their own motivations

i don’t feel i am alone
in needing a different economics
that sees real value in ourselves
as human
embodied spirit

living, ever present, ever changing
alive, and active

living things interact
these things are not predictable
at all
not robotic
programmed
molded or beaten into submission..

living things are closer to wild
self-directed and
conscious of context

a different, living economics where behaviour
does not need to be predicted
or shaped
where nothing needs to be preserved
maintaining status

for status also is not static

I need an economics of being closer to wild
rallying forces of painful, bloody, messy creation
an economics of full active participation
observing
living
working

gaining sight
vision
empathy, compassion
knowledge, motivation
and understanding.

offering warm embraces to
current and future challenges
the economics of reality
of life,
of active living
and regeneration

an economics of abundance
the economics of being closer to wild

about

man from jambican Ottawa, Ontario

Sanctuary for the soul. Something for which I have been searching my whole life. And in its apparent absence, I have endeavoured to create it…

Blessed with land on which I can grow vegetables and flowers, commune with trees young and old, observe and attract wildlife of all kinds.. I can quiet the madness attacking my soul and embrace the peace of being ‘closer to wild’.
